Watchmen

Watchmen

written by Al Todorovic

In a different universe comic book heroes were never invented. Instead masked heroes exist in real life, fist-fighting criminals and admired by children.  It’s 1985, Nixon is President and the cold war is escalating. Volatile crusaders walk around brawling in the streets, the hot chick gets naked and Dr. Manhatten has the power to do anything.

Watchmen is the coolest superhero movie since Batman 1989. It’s sweet how it’s rated R, so many PG-13 comic book movies are boring “ohh no. Cyclops, Magneto is attacking downtown.”

This movie was made more for the fans then any other comic book movie ever. It has all the cool stuff jammed in, but it’d probably be impossible to watch if you haven’t read the book.

The comic is a great read, it’s a contained twelve issue mini series. It explores ideas of time, importance and justice between 1939 when the Minutemen formed, 1966 when Veidt assembled the Crimebusters, the Keene act of 1977 outlawing superheroes and the present of 1985 where the Comedian is found dead.

I’ve seen this movie twice so far and I’m literally going to go see it as often as I possibly can.
