The Tale of Despereaux

This movie is fun, and lively. The narrative has enough steam from start to finish.  Despereaux is an outcast mouse in his community because he’s brave. A cuddly rogue willing to go on quests to save a princess and defeat gluttonous blood-thirsty rats. Matthew Broderick plays the lead role. Dustin Hoffman is the rat, Roscuro, set apart from his peers because he is not content to live in the sewer and dreams of a life at sea.

Probably the best thing about this movie is the humor in the animation. Every character, even the pretty princess, is drawn in a ridiculously ugly way. Despereaux is funny to watch as he boldly runs out into the world, unafraid of being crushed. Also great is the chef, at the beginning and the end of the movie he is cooking in a jolly way. As he talks to his friend named Balto, a ghost who possesses a bowl of fruit and helps make soup.

If you’re a happy person who likes to laugh this movie works. It’s funny and short and cool. All good stuff.
