The Spirit

This was such a good movie. It felt more like watching a cartoon then anything I’ve ever seen before.

Denny Colt a detective in Central City is shot dead. Then brought back to life as The Spirit, a super hero who can’t die trying to defeat a super villain drug dealer, The Octopus who can’t die. This is a really sweet dynamic, they have some rocking comic book brawls.

Gabriel Macht was cool in the lead role. Sam Jackson gave The Octopus a lot of attitude. The Dad from Wonder Years is the chief of police. He said stuff like, “I don’t know why I talk to you anymore” and “get out of my face.” The girls were ridiculously hot: Eva Mendes was outrageous and Scarlett Johansson didn’t look too beat up. Plus the rookie cop, the angel of death and the doctor were mint.

The Spirit is another black, white and red film, but it’s more like The Matrix then Sin City where there’s a lot of slow-motion and stylized martial arts. I am probably going to watch this movie five times while it’s in the theaters.
